Buds Lose to Blues, Set Up Likely 4 Game Losing Streak, Maybe More.
The Leafs lost their second in a row Tuesday night against the St. Louis Blues, setting up what should most likely be a four game losing streak with a possibility for up to six losses in a row! Grab some popcorn and settle in, these loses should prove to be quite entertaining.
The Leafs put up an impressively awful showing allowing three goals on only 19 shots in the 3-2 loss to the Blues. Vesa Toskala looked like the career backup he is, letting in what would turn out to be the game winner on a tap in because apparently in San Jose they never taught him how to cover the puck after a save. It would have been two awful goals if not for Nik Antropov, who was able to sweep in and stop a puck on the goal line after it slipped its way through a hole in Toskala.
Down 3-2 in the dying minutes, the Leafs appeared to score, pushing a puck in from under Legace, but the whistle had gone. Tucker, being the stooge he is, immediately put on his classic angry, ‘I’m the devil’ face and shouted his lungs out. Sadly, the Leafs were still talking about that chance in the post game interviews. Excuses, excuses.
This loss sets the Leafs up for games against Carolina, Ottawa, Florida and Detroit. Carolina no longer has small pox, so they should beat the Leafs. Toronto might as well not even show up to Ottawa and Detroit. The only question is whether or not the Panthers will spoil the possible 6 game losing streak by allowing the Leafs to win. Let’s hope Florida comes out hard, because the Leafs are getting closer and closer to mathematical elimination, and every loss counts!
Stumble it!
